About Doujinshi:
Doujinshi are fan drawn and produced manga. They are usually (but not always!) based on existing anime or manga series. They're visual fanfiction, if you will. ^_^ Doujinshi are, for the most part, unauthorized by the Japanese companies and/or authors that own the copyrights to the characters and series, but most of the companies pretty much turn a blind eye to them.
